This is some information for the event from an article that was printed in 1921:
BURBANK MEMORIAL ASSN. TO STAGE BIG SPECTACLE
With a cast of mow than 10,000 actors, an amphitheater covering acres of ground, a range of mountains as background and a program extending over a period of three days, one of the most gigantic spectacles ever presented on the Pacific Coast will be staged at Burbank July 2, 3 and 4 under the auspices of the Burbank Memorial Association. It is estimated that upwards of 160,000 persons will view the various events that have been planned for the three days. Many patriotic organisations are sponsoring the undertaking, which will be the first step toward the establishment of a fund with which to build a Memorial Hail for the American Legion, Red Cross, Veterans of all wars, Boy Scouts, and to serve as a National Guard Armory. To provide housing accommodations for the thousands of persons who will remain ‘in Burbank during the three days of the celebration a tent city will be put up. Reservations have already been made by San Diego, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and the Imperial Valley. On the opening day, Saturday July 2, a big wild west show will be the afternoon feature, William S. Hart directing this event. Will Rogers, Tom Mix, Harry Carey, Hoot Gibson and hundreds of rough riders will participate. Ten thousand dollars is offered in cash prizes so as to attract the most daring riders of the country. A big review of the contestants will take place just prior to the event. La Fiesta will be held Saturday night. This will be a miniature electrical parade, with all of the floats drawn by men, women and children instead of horses or power vehicles. Every city and community in Southern California has been invited to epter a float in the electrical parade, a parade that will be one of the most unique ever held on the Pacific Coast. For the evening performance there will be community singing by 600 members of the Community Service Singers and the vast audience. Immediately following this there will be the showing for the first time of the first two episodes of the “Visualized Version of the Bible,” a monster film production that has a deep religious interest and which is later to be shown in all civilised countries. Independence Day has been reserved tor the finals in the great $lO,OOO prize wild west contests. The cowboys and cowgirls will be seen in the wildest of wild west stunts, a herd of bucking bronchos having been brought here especially for the finals. Among the organizations actively behind the project are the American Legion, Red Cross, Veterans of the Spanish-Amerlcan War, Veterans of the World War, the Actors’ Equity League and the Community Service Singers.—Adv. Mr. and Mrs. 'Harold Wing have returned to Los Angeles after a residence of two years in Seattle and San Francisco where Mr.. Wing has been employed on the staff of the U. S. Shipping Board. For the present they are making their home with Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Wing of West Avenue 68."
