Description

Beautiful and unique image of a young boy dressed as a firefighter
circa 1910
The unidentified boy is wearing a long coat, holding a water hose and a traditional fireman's hat, although it is facing the rear. Oddly, there were instances when early firefighters did in fact wear their hats facing the back to help shield their faces from debris, etc.
The photograph was made at the studio of Albertus Daniel Frankforter, of Hagerstown, Maryland, who was a photographer for 39 years in Maryland and Pennsylvania, until his death in 1937.
It is in the original frame.
The image measures: approx. 8 7/8" x 13 7/8"
The outside dimension of the frame is: 22 3/4" x 16 3/4"
Frankforter's imprint is on the matted section at the bottom of the print.
Thanks very much for stopping by.
