Exceptional Antique African American Gentleman's Portrait, circa 1880s-1920s
Beautiful Hand-Coloring
Oval Convex Glass and Frame
Size: 22" Height x 16" Width
There are small tears in the photograph, which is to be expected with its age (see photos). However, it is still a magnificent piece of history and not to be passed up!
The original paper backing is long gone, but the original mounting backing is still intact and undisturbed.
There are no hallmarks on the frame, but it is in fantastic condition.
As best as we can tell, the writing on the photo mounting says:

We wish this handsome gentleman could tell us his history. Where has he been? Where did he go in his life? This is a very special portrait and so important to preserving African American and Black History. Our hope is someone will appreciate and cherish his portrait as much as he deserves to be cherished.

Local pick-up is available at our Placerville, CA location. If you are local and would like to pick-up your purchase, please message us so that we can send you an invoice without shipping fees. Purchases must be paid in full via eBay prior to pick-up. Items will be held up to 10 days. After 10 days without pick-up, the order will be refunded and relisted for sale.
