This beautiful but tragic photo shows a mother holding a baby standing with two young boys.  All are in misfitting, torn and tattered clothing.  The mother is wearing a food sack for a skirt and her top has holes throughout.  Despite the desperate looking situation, one of the young boys is looking rather happily at the mother and baby.  The original photograph was taken in March of 1936, in the heart of the American Great Depression, by photographer Carl Mydans with the Farm Security Administration.
