In January 1912 during a tour of the United States, Alfred Tennyson Dickens (the 6th child of writer Charles Dickens) died suddenly while in New York City.  Dickens was commemorating the centennial of his famous father's birth.  Several dignitaries stepped forward to act as pall bearers including Andrew Carnegie, Henry Clewes, William Clark, Courtney Bennett, Whitelaw Reid and others.  This image was taken January 6, the day of the funeral.
